Well, as I sort of guessed, the show has kinda lost it on the second episode, the boss and the scottish girl who's best input to the episode was "The houmous is off" as well as him peeing into a bucket, Davina McCall shambling about doing nothing, the guy who was trapped at the train station finding another survivor who could become the Ken Foree/Ving Rhames (depending on what Dawn Of The Dead version you prefer) of the piece and then we have the housemates *sigh*. When the housemate characters were wondering how to get to the van, I was just waiting on one of the characters saying "Have you seen Shaun Of The Dead?" followed by "Normal-lite's" staggering towards the van. Still, some lovely gore effects throughout and the house thing could be interesting, how many Night Of The Living Dead references can be crammed into the rest of the series? All they then need to do is find an underground bunker and Dennis Hopper in the next few episodes and we've got short remakes of the Romero movies. The supermarket is in Episode 3 by the way.
One thing that has occured to me though, is the format is all wrong, they should have ran it for 3-4 nights the way they ran it last night, longer episodes or perhaps done a straight to dvd or short cinematic release, or push it to Film 4, though there's no doubt more money in short serial programming (The Fable 2 ad looked expensive at least), as well as getting people talking for the whole week. Another interesting thing, Amazon has the running time at 138 minutes, which sounds about right, which is a bit long for a horror movie, but I still reckon each episode could do with being a bit longer, though 1.2 million viewers for the first episode is pretty good right?
