An Odd Coincidence

This morning before work, I stuck on BBC News 24 and among the news, a story about the new Doctor, Matt Smith. I've never sat and watched the show so I was entirely not bothered by the announcement. So this evening, I stick on the Special Features for In Bruges and during the deleted scenes (Chapter 16 to be exact) there is a flashback of Harry life, who is only played by Ralph Fiennes in the film. The scene shows a young Harry entering a police station and chopping off a man's head. Guess who plays the young Harry? Yep, the new Doctor Who, Matt Smith:
FILM
In Bruges - The only film I've watched in the past few days and a film that was a good second viewing. This black comedy with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson is quite simple and ultimately very character based. One hates Bruges and one loves Bruges, one pays the world great respect and the other is offensive to everyone and everything and the friendship between both of the leads is made so much more believable simply because they counteract each other perfectly. I'd say the film could be about how everyone has a different way of looking at the world. Ken sees the world the way a very classic, older generation way and Ray has a very immature Un-PC opinion of it all. The film isn't simply a comedy however, the drama of Ray's back story is quite intense and adds a twist to anything you've ever seen in gangster films.

It's definitely dark and it's definitely a comedy and if you don't mind some very offensive language you'll love it too. Just when you thought Colin Farrell had gone mad...he needs to avoid Hollywood for a while.
In Bruges - 8/10
